The origin of the Never Forget™ Cuff Bracelet
The Never Forget Bracelet was a direct result of
the
Angels of Courage, which were Fine Silver
Christmas ornaments made especially for the fallen
heroes.
NECO
had asked LDC to manufacture the Angels out of the
.999 Fine Silver that was recovered from the World
Trade Center.
Once manufactured the Angels were placed on the
Christmas Tree at Bowling Green Park,
just outside of Wall Street. After the holidays each
of the 427 Angels were engraved with the individual
names of the firefighters, police officers and port
authority officers that gave their lives on
September 11th. The Angels were then given to those
victim's families.
Soon after NECO received many emotional letters from
the families thanking them for this cherished gift.
However, one of the most stirring responses did not
come from a letter but from a NY City Police Officer
working his beat.
While walking from ground zero on the day of the
tree lighting ceremony Ed DeCristofaro, President of
Never Forget and managing partner of LDC, spoke with
the officer. He showed the officer what NECO and LDC
had created and told him whom the Angels were for.
The Police Officer said, in wonderful New York
fashion, "That's very nice, really, but we're taken
care of. What about the people who weren't cops or
firefighters? Why don't you do something for them?"
After
that a partnership was formed between Never Forget
Inc. and NECO to create a charity that would provide
scholarships for all family members of the victims
of the World Trade Center tragedy. NECO had the
All-American Collegiate Scholarship Foundation
already in place. But raising money would not be the
only goal. The other goal was to give something back
to everyone else.
That is why this bracelet was created. Not only
do the victims family member get the gift of an
education but you will have the most sacred and
unique piece of history ever created, The Never
Forget Bracelet. |
